Best silent gaming mouse for 2024: Our Top 6 picks

Don't wake up anyone while gaming with silent clicks

The best gaming mice on the market will reduce the time it takes for your actions to get picked up by the PC with their low response time. They also feature better ergonomics than the over-the-counter mouse options, making them more comfortable for extended periods.

Though you won’t hear anything distracting from a gaming mouse while playing games, the same may not apply to everyone you share your house with. Gamers who enjoy the comfort of the night may have dealt with roommates or family members who couldn’t fall asleep due to their intensive mouse clicks. You can soundproof your room to bypass this issue, but getting a silent gaming mouse on par with the regular ones will always be cheaper than the first option.

Most silent gaming mice have a significantly quieter clicking sound than the common ones. Still, the most reputable names in the industry have yet to build a completely silent gaming mouse. Top brands have models that produce less noise, but you’ll need to check out brands that you haven’t heard before if you’re after a genuinely silent experience.

We’ll look at both in our list featuring the best silent gaming mice, which should help you narrow your options and get busy gaming without distracting anyone as soon as possible.

Product Breakdown For Logitech G502 HERO

Logitech G502 series offers an all-in-one experience. The G502 line has the ergonomics, adjustability, and looks to stop anyone in their tracks.

Logitech G502 HERO features a pleasant clicking sound, which can be considered silent compared to other gaming entries on the market. It’s still not 100 percent silent, so don’t try to mash the buttons too hard.

The G502 Lightspeed HERO 25K sensor can go up to 25,600 DPI and has a report rate of one millisecond. The mouse weighs 121 grams, and you can increase it with the additional weights you find inside its box. Its tracking speed of 400+ IPS makes it an overall solid choice for competitive gaming, and the fully programmable buttons allow gamers to free up their keyboard in terms of hotkeys.

2. SteelSeries Rival 5

Key specs• TrueMove Sensor
• Relatively lightweight
What we like about it• Decent RGB
• Competitive sensor
What we don’t like about it• Not completely silent
• The SteelSeries software is always a bit complicated

Product Breakdown For SteelSeries Rival 5

It’s hard to think about the sound a mouse makes while playing competitive games, but the Rival 5 still features one of the more pleasant clicks while keeping everything esports-grade.

SteelSeries’ Rival 5 features the brand’s TrueMove Air sensor. The sensor can go up to 18,000 in terms of DPI and has a tracking speed of 400 IPS. Combined with a one-millisecond response time, Rival 5 checks all the boxes and is a solid buy if you’re a competitive gamer.

The mouse comes with eight programmable buttons and weighs 85 grams, making it almost 20 percent lighter than the first two options on our list.

Its clicking sound is on par with G502, if not lower. Hardly pressing down the keys will still cause more noise, but the overall sound level is definitely quieter, considering it’s a fully equipped gaming mouse.

3. Logitech M330 Silent Plus

Key specs• Completely silent clicks
• Can double as a work mouse
What we like about it• Decent form factor for a “laptop” mouse
• A truly silent experience
What we don’t like about it• Doesn’t come with Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED technology

Product Breakdown For Logitech M330 Silent Plus

The Logitech M330 Silent Plus isn’t categorized as a gaming mouse—nor is it trying to be one. While not many gamers will want to sacrifice the advantages gaming equipment brings to the table, there will be times when you have no choice but to eliminate all sound. Whether you have a light-sleeping roommate or parents next door, a truly silent gaming mouse can be your gateway to enjoying your favorite games at later hours of the night.

Compared to Logitech’s other silent alternatives, the M330’s size is larger, but it may still not be large enough for gamers with big hands. While Logitech’s other silent alternatives produce similar sound levels as the M330, most are relatively small, making them subpar candidates for gaming.

Despite being a wireless Logitech mouse, the brand doesn’t use its Lightspeed technology that allows its gaming mice to have the same level of responsiveness as its wired models. This means that even if it’s hard to notice, you’ll have more input lag than you would have with a top-tier gaming mouse. If you’re a casual player, the difference will be negligible, but it’s something to consider for competitive players.

4. INPHIC Mouse

Key specs• Three easy-to-switch DPI levels
• Silent left and right click switches
What we like about it• It doesn’t need any additional configurations
• Decent ergonomics
What we don’t like about it• Macro buttons could be more silent
• Build quality

Product Breakdown For INPHIC Mouse

It’s generally hard to keep a gaming mouse silent because most decent switches will have distinctive sounds but the INPHIC Mouse aims to create a balance between the two worlds.

The left and right clicks on this mouse come with silent switches. However, the other buttons on the mouse don’t have the same silent switches. Out of the box, you’ll have access to three adjustable DPI levels, 1000, 1200, and 1600.

The INPHIC Mouse can both be used wirelessly via Bluetooth and wired via a USB connection, increasing its versatility even further.

5. VersionTECH Wireless Gaming Mouse

Key specs• Three level DPI
• Wireless connectivity
What we like about it• Impressive RGB performance
• Decent transmitter performance
What we don’t like about it• The looks could be too much for some gamers
• Macro buttons could be more comfy

VersionTech’s Wireless Gaming Mouse has that famous gamer look with an attention-grabbing design and RGB. Under its impressive looks, it features silent clicks.

While these clicks aren’t the most silent ones on the market, they’re still better than regular gaming mice, which can be quite loud. VersionTech’s Wireless Gaming mouse boasts three DPI levels: 800, 1200, and 1600. There are six buttons on this mouse, which can come in handy for MMORPG players.

6. T-Dagger Wireless Gaming Mouse

Key specs• Seven programmable buttons
• Five DPI levels
What we like about it• Programmable buttons and DPI levels offer quite a bit of flexibility
• Subtle look
What we don’t like about it• Requires an AA battery – so keep some near you for worst case scenarios

Product Breakdown For T-Dagger Wireless Gaming Mouse

If you frequently use the side buttons with macros, you might appreciate this additional touch on T-Dagger. This mouse also comes with five adjustable DPI levels, 800-1200-1600-2000-2400.

How we created this list of best silent gaming mice

As a former competitive gamer, I was all about using the best possible hardware, which meant I used loud mice for the sake of performance, but this wasn’t appreciated by my housemates.

The loud clicks would often wake up my friends and family, causing a drift between us. For the sake of our bonds, I gave up on my precious gaming gear and moved to a more silent setup. In the process, I tried many products and settled with a membrane keyboard combined with a silent mouse. While picking a silent keyboard was relatively easy, the mouse part was more complicated because of ergonomics. In addition to being silent, my silent mouse of choice also needed to feel right in my hands.

Overall, from top to bottom, the first two entries on our list are the most silent alternatives from the competitive gaming world. While they aren’t completely silent, they make considerably less sound versus their industry rivals. In the middle, you’ll find Logitech M330 Silent Plus, which has been my go-to silent mouse when I have to game at night.

At the bottom of our list, you’ll find the budget-friendly alternatives which will get the job done. If you are unsure about switching to a silent mouse, I’d recommend experimenting with the budget picks. Silent clicks tend to feel significantly different compared to regular switches, so if you don’t end up liking a silent mouse, you won’t have spent too much on it anyway.

The best advice I can give is that, if you truly need the most silent mouse, you should stay one step away from any product that labels itself “gaming” because they will still have a sound, especially on macro buttons. The silent mouse often comes in the form of a laptop/work mouse, which isn’t ideal for playing games, but you won’t leave your trace on snow.
