Best Pals for Kindling in Palworld

These are the best pals to stoke your fires.

There are over 100 Pals in Palworld, each with unique traits and Work Suitabilities. Only around two dozen are capable of Kindling, which means they help with cooking and refining ore. Fire-type Pals usually have the Kindling Work Suitability, and some are better at Kindling than others.

The Best Kindling Pal in Palworld

Jormuntide Ignis

The single best Pal for Kindling in your base is Jormuntide Ignis. This Pal has no other Work Suitabilities, which means it can direct all of its energy to cooking and refining metals. With Kindling level four, it’s the most efficient Pal for cooking and refining currently in Palworld. But, since it only spawns at the No. 2 Wildlife Reserve as a rare Pal, it’s not exactly the easiest thing to catch.

This colossal lava serpent’s lack of other Work Suitabilities is a blessing in disguise. Palworld’s endgame wholly reliant on based on metals, materials, and smelting. Jormuntide Ignis’s single-minded dedication to this task lets you reliably craft Refined Ingots, Pal Metal, and Charcoal en masse.

And this is without even considering its combat capabilities. Alongside Blazamut, Jormuntide Ignis serves as one of the best Fire-type Pals in the game for combat purposes, and you can even mount it.

  • Element: Dragon/Fire
  • Partner Skill: Stormbringer Lava Dragon
  • Work Suitability: Kindling level four
  • Possible Drops: High Quality Pal Oil, Flame Organ
  • Hunger: 7/10

Best late-game Kindling Pals in Palworld

Ragnahawk

While it doesn’t have the same fiery capabilities as a Jormuntide, Ragnahawk also has level three Transporting, so it can pick up items dropped on the ground and take them to nearby storage containers when it’s not kindling fires.

While it’s very effective at lighting those fires, this denizen of Mount Obsidian often gets distracted. Ragnahawks, while dedicated to Kindling, are also known to chase after anything on the floor. This makes it fairly useful in Ore Farms—it can pick up ore and immediately continue working on an Ingot order. But, in a main camp, it might give up on cooking your food to run to your Ranch. Keep an eye on this flaming bird and make sure it does the job you tell it to.

  • Element: Fire
  • Partner Skill: Flame Wing
  • Work Suitability: Kindling level three, Transporting level three
  • Possible Drops: Flame Organ
  • Hunger: 7/10

Blazehowl

Blazehowl is a multifaceted Pal, which makes it great for your main base. This flaming lion has level two Lumbering, which means it might prioritize Lumbering over Kindling at certain camps. As your primary furnace-watcher, this makes Blazehowl a bit of a liability—but as your third or fourth Kindling Pal, it’s much better. Blazehowl will usually head to furnaces to cook and craft, but will have something to do when it runs out of orders: Chop wood at a Logging Site. Considering Charcoal is so important to late-game Palworld, that’s not a terrible thing. Blazehowl Noct behaves almost exactly the same, but sports the Dark type—and looks a bit cooler, in our opinion.

Both of these flaming cats are all over Mount Obsidian—we tripped all over them. Pick your favorite.

  • Element: Fire
  • Partner Skill: Hellflame Lion
  • Work Suitability: Kindling level three, Lumbering level two
  • Possible Drops: Flame Organ
  • Hunger: 7/10

Reptyro

Alongside its fantastic level three Kindling ability, Reptyro also has level three Mining. It may work on Mining jobs before Kindling ones, which isn’t the best thing if you’re in a pickle and need your fire technology running. But, this makes it a mainstay at Ore Mines or in bases that already have very solid Kindling Pals.

The Magma-Born Juggernaut is one of the most potent resource-gatherers in the game due to its mixture of Mining and Kindling. Its Partner Skill even grants a small bonus to mining-based drops, making it a great companion to bring to dungeons or Sulfur hotspots.

  • Element: Fire/Ground
  • Partner Skill: Ore-Loving Beast
  • Work Suitability: Kindling level three, Mining level three
  • Possible Drops: Flame Organ
  • Hunger: 5/10

Sootseer

Sootseer is one of the new Pals added in the Sakurajima update, and it immediately stands out as one of the best new Pals because of how it excels in a number of areas. The variety of work Suitabilities Sootseer has, from Kindling to Mining to Farming and more, make it a malleable Pal to have at your base.

Sootseer’s partner skill Tomb Raider also makes it invaluable, as it is currently the only Pal in the game that can farm Bone, a crafting item that was previously only accessible via the tedious grind of killing certain Pals.

  • Element: Fire/Dark
  • Partner Skill: Tomb Raider
  • Work Suitability: Kindling level three, Mining level two, Handiwork level 2, Gathering level 1, Farming level 1
  • Possible Drops: Medium Pal Soul, Bone, Crude Oil
  • Hunger: 7/10

Best early game Kindling Pals in Palworld

Foxparks

Foxparks is the first fire Pal you encounter in Palworld, as it spawns just a short walk away from your original starting point. Alongside Rooby, it will focus almost entirely on breathing fire into your early-game Smelters to make Ingots for you.

It doesn’t have any other Work Suitabilities, which makes it dedicated to the task at-hand, but if you want a Kindling Pal that can do other jobs, consider switching to a more versatile Pal when you can. While having a dedicated fire-tender—and personal flamethrower—is a great idea, there are plenty of Pals ready to take its place right around the corner.

  • Element: Fire
  • Partner Skill: Huggy Fire
  • Work Suitability: Kindling level one
  • Possible Drops: Leather, Flame Organ
  • Hunger: 2/10

Arsox

A quick and potent upgrade to a Foxparks, you can find Arsox east of the Verdash boss in the eastern volcanic region, as well as to the north of the Relaxaurus Lux boss. The ones in the eastern volcanic region are low-level—nine to 12—and are great for a growing base.

Kindling Two is a must-have for cooking and ore refining. This process takes a while, especially as recipes get more complex, so having a solid fire-starter is a good idea. And, unlike Foxparks, Arsox will keep itself busy by headbutting trees once its Kindling work is done.

  • Element: Fire
  • Partner Skill: Warm Body
  • Work Suitability: Kindling level two, Lumbering level one
  • Possible Drops: Horn, Flame Organ
  • Hunger: 5/10

Wixen

Available from the mid-teens, you can catch Wixen east of the Verdash boss. It’s a flame magician that sports a strong level two Kindling and a stronger level three Handiwork. This makes them easily distracted, but a midgame base can’t afford to not have a Wixen around.

Cooking and refining is far too important to miss out on, but crafting can take a long time without solid hands. Wixen is one of the most stacked early-game Pals around, so we recommend finding a few in that eastern volcanic region.

  • Element: Fire
  • Partner Skill: Lord Fox
  • Work Suitability: Kindling level two, Handiwork level three, Transporting level two
  • Possible Drops: Flame Organ, High Grade Technical Manual
  • Hunger: 5/10
